OUTREACH & EDUCATIONAL PLANS

Translate the cross-state research programs into educational and public outreach efforts in participating states, and provide training opportunities to the high school teachers.

EDUCATION AND WORKFORCE DEVELOPMENT ACTIVITIES

1. STEM participation enrichment through UA Center for Math and Science Education (CMASE), which is in partnership with the Arkansas STEM Coalition and the Arkansas STEM Center Network that includes twelve STEM Centers crisscrossing the state of Arkansas.

2. Workshop for High School Teachers organized by the AOLRC to provide training to high school teachers of Arkansas and Oklahoma.

3. Minority undergraduate outreach program to recruit undergraduate minority students from Langston University, OK for summer internships. Langston is an 18990 institution where 90-95% of the students are African-American from Arkansas and Oklahoma.

4. Summer Student Award Program will recruit minority undergraduate students for the Summer Student Award Program developed by AOLRC.

5. Interdisciplinary Graduate Training Initiative to provide interdisciplinary training of graduate students in biology, bioinformatics, and biotechnology etc.

6. Bioinformatics Enrichment Program to provide training in the use of computational resources and practical Bioinformatics.

7. Faculty Development Program by mentorship of young faculty.
